THE ALCHEMIST BOOK REVIEW

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho tells the story of a shepherd boy Santiago who embarks on a journey to the pyramids in search of treasure.This is a novel that would speak to you.You will be inspired page after page.

There are so many lessons learnt from this pages.Its a book that you wont only read but also read better to ponder later on.Some of the lessons I learnt from this book are;

— “And when you want something,all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.”This teaches us to focus on our goals,The universe will always direct us to our own path.This reminds me of “The law of attraction.The ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on.”From the story,Santiago wanted to have his treasure and at the end he achieved it.

—Nothing worth having comes easy.Life comes with its up and downs,twist and turns.The protagonist in this story is tested with so many challenges.He got robbed several times and lost everything.This teaches us that you have to be prepared to risk it all and that each obstacle you will face is a stepping stone to fulfilling your dreams.

—Pursue your dreams passionately with your heart. “Remember that wherever your heart is,there you will find your treasure “

—Fear of failure.The novel teaches us to not fear failure.Do not be afraid when things go wrong is a lesson i have learnt. “Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity.

—Enjoying the moment,not dwelling in the past and not being anxious on the future is another lesson learnt.”Because I don't live in either my past or my future. I'm interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you'll be a happy man."

—Another lesson repeated several time in the book is “Maktub” It is written.Written by Allah and that everything that happens,happens for a reason.

—lastly love.Love can never keep a man from pursuing his destiny,his dreams.From the story,Fatima tells Santiago to continue towards his goal and that if she is really apart of his dream then he will come back one day.This teaches us that true love can never put a blockade between you and your dreams.It also teaches us to be aware of the people around us,if the people around you do not support you,then,you are in a wrong place.

I will highly recommend this novel.Its a novel that would make you reflect on your life and for that it surely deserves a space in your bookshelf.
